Bluepill with CKS32F103C8T6

Post by madias » Mon Nov 18, 2019 11:17 am

Hello,

I got the info of a project partner of mine, that you randomly get CKS32F103C8T6 bluepills on ali delivered , even if it says in the description "STM32".
There are rare information about this chip, like here: https://github.com/platformio/platform- ... issues/247

Does any of you own this chip? Are there any known problems uploading with the ST-Link? (Using Standard Arduino IDE & Rogers Core)

Thanks & regards

Matthias

Ok, it seems, web.archive.org is the better option:

I have a few also. if you are using PlatformIO, just add this to the project .ini

upload_flags = -c set CPUTAPID 0x2ba01477

Like this an it will upload fine.

[env:stable]
platform = ststm32
framework = arduino
board = genericSTM32F103CB ;Maple
upload_flags = -c set CPUTAPID 0x2ba01477 ;CKS CS32F103C8T6 clone

this is becoming a risk of sorts, does it gives one an impression the manufacturers are switching to the clone chips for bluepill & maple mini rather than using stm32? after all it seemed likely to come from one or a few manufacturers but lots of retailers

i'd guess i'd need to learn how to solder smd chips
i'd think the better manufactures e.g. robotdyn are likely to still offer original stm32 boards just that it probably won't be priced as low as like the bluepills

Even if it's not a true STM32 what the problem if it's a true replacement pin for pin? For the cost of these board it's pretty amazing to play with!

the trouble of course is that even that implicit assumption need not always be true
st would of course provide some assurance that stm32 meets the specs, that's the way it is designed and made
unofficial replicas do not have the burden of that promise, so one take the chances

Maybe it's time to upgrade to F4? They are getting very cheap.

+1, or get from robotdyn
there are also other series like stm32f103rb, ve etc likely originals more expensive though
and we don't necessarily need to buy from the same group of vendors
e.g. olimex has some nice boards
https://www.olimex.com/Products/ARM/ST/
https://www.olimex.com/Products/Duino/S ... e-hardware
https://www.mikroe.com/mini-stm32f4
adafruit has the feather f405 - seem selling quite fast !
https://www.adafruit.com/product/4382
it is interesting micropython sells a F7 board !
https://store.micropython.org/
think there are more
and if all else doesn't satisfy ST has original nucleo & discovery boards :D

how is our stm32f411 support?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000103 ... b201603_55 are killer boards for their price. Also nice update with the usb-c connector. i usually develop straight in cubemx, so ordered a few of those, and probably will order more, and no fakes of that chip yet afaik.
