Re: The Core of my problems, IDE's and alternative workflows

I use visual studio for C# and that's great.
But for microcontrollers, I prefer a platform that's portable. So I stick with Arduino IDE in portable mode. It does the job - most of the time.

Re: USART DR register

Steve, that worked thanks .
I suppose I should have thought of that. I can get a bit fuddled in the labyrinth of c++ defs.

Re: USART DR register

Thanks for replying Steve.

I'm writing directly to the DR register purely to minimize the cycles cost.

Yes I tried

Code: Select all

USART1->regs->DR = my_byte;
(Rogers core) but I get

Code: Select all

exit status 1
'USART1' was not declared in this scope

Re: USART DR register

Oh yes, it is working. I just expected to find the DR register to be pre-defined. I'm using this in a sine wave inverter project (SPWM) . I transmit a small amount of data which can be logged etc by an external device. Using this method I send one byte at a fixed timebase (currently once a 50Hz cycl...

USART DR register

I had a frustrated day yesterday trying to find an exposed Define of the USARTs DR register. With the Stm32duino forum down searches of previous work is lost. I'm using Rogers core on the Bluepill. I needed a very low overhead method of send one char at a time. I ended up with this. volatile uint8 *...

Thanks for this snippet Vassilis, I didn't know of this part and I'll be trying it out soon. :D

Re: LCD I2C not working with STM32F103 and Arduino IDE

Thanks again guys,
I wasn't if the wire library was the correct library either as that wasn't working.
A fresh arduino 188 install in portable mode sorted that out.
It's nice to have the up to date information :D

Thanks Vassilis

I did spend a few hours first trying to get a definitive answer.

Re: LCD I2C not working with STM32F103 and Arduino IDE

I'm sorry about this question but with the old forum shutdown .....

Which is the recommended LiquidCrystal_12c library?

Can someone post an example "Hello_World"

I'm used to using it with arduino but I've never used i2c with the stm32.

Thanks

Thank Steve. I must have got all jumbled up (doesn't take much) . I'm not github savvy but I'll follow your instruction for next time.
